| HC directs BOPEE to admit petitioner in MBBS under ALC category | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 9 : High court judge Tashi Rabstan, while allowing the petition of a female candidate, has directed BOPEE to admit her in MBBS course, 2016 under ALC category.
Kamal Bharti had applied for CET-II for 2016 under ALC category and appeared in common entrance test (CET) held on July 31, 2016. She claimed that in view of her performance in CET, she was quite confident to be selected for pursuing MBBS course under ALC category and accordingly, when the result was declared, she was placed at 7th rank under ALC category.
She said she was called for counseling on August 7, 2016 and was allotted BDS seat in Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu. She submitted that on August 25, 2016, one Tanisha Manhas (respondent No 4) was also called for counselling. It is at this point of time that petitioner came to know from the website of BOPEE that one seat of MBBS female candidate under ALC category had been kept reserved for the reason that respondent No 4 had failed to produce a valid ALC category certificate at the time of counselling.
She stated that on inquiry, it was found that respondent No 4 was not eligible even to get admission for the reason that she had failed to produce the relevant certificate at the time of submission of her application form and that she had approached this court by way of writ petition. The grievance projected by the petitioner is that since respondent No 4 had been found ineligible to be considered under ALC category, she, being next in order of merit placed on 7th rank, is entitled to her admission in MBBS course for 2016.
