Jammu, Dec 17: An art exhibition of sculptures titled 'Voyage of Journey' by Jammu artist Vikas Khajuria has been thrown open to the public for viewing at Rabindra Bhawan, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. S. Paramjit Singh, a veteran printmaker, Advaita Gadanayak, an eminent sculptor, Bimal Das and Harshvardhan Sharma, established artists were present on the occasion of its opening. A total of nine large size sculptures have been displayed in the exhibition. The sculptures executed in multimedia technique, using wood, steel, glass, fiber glass and terracotta etc. depict childhood memories of Vikas Khajuria. The works, though, executed in simple visuals & appeal in their themes but remain to be enough contemporary in their context of statement. The titles of works like 'Memories of Childhood' and 'Voyage of Genesis' etc. depict this relevance. Vikas Khajuria has already displayed his works in many solo and group shows in the country at Mumbai, Jammu, Khajuraho, Nagpur, Anand (Gujrat), Baroda and New Delhi. He has also attended various Sculptors camps like Terracotta camp organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Srinagar, 2013; Sculpture camp by V A F, Jammu, 2013; All India Sculptors camp in Kashmir by J&K Tourism Devp. Corp., 2012; All India Sculptors camp in Ladakh by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, 2012; Terracotta workshop for Festival in APJ College of Fine Arts Jalandhar; workshop of sand casting at BBK DAV College for women, Amritsar and All India Sculptors Symposium at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, 2010. He has worked as Lecturer in Department of Sculpture at APJ College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar (1999 to 2001); as an Art teacher at Sagar School, Rajasthan (2001- 2004); as Lecturer in BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar (2004); as Lecturer at School of Architecture Landscape & Designing at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra (2007- 2009) and as Instructor at IMFA, Jammu (2010- 2012).
