srinagar, Dec 17: After terminating 84 "deadwood officials", the State Vigilance Organization has reportedly sent a list of approximately 50 corruption officials to the government for dismissing them from their services.
Official sources told early TIMES that the State Vigilance Organization had submitted a list of 100 tainted officials to the government last year. However, in July last year, the PDP-BJP government terminated the services of only 63 officials and these cases were also examined by a committee headed by the then Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday. The other members of committee were Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary, Home, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, and the Secretary, Law.
Last month, Government dismissed 21 more employees from that list on the charges of corruption and being deadwood. The government has terminated employees under Article 226(2) of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations. Those sacked include a KAS officer, two Assistant Executive Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control department.
Now sources told early TIMES that another list of 40 to 50 tainted officials has been prepared and has been submitted to the Chief Minister's official.
"We had prepared a list of 100 officials of which 63 were terminated last year and 21 in November. Now a list of 50 more officials has been prepared including 16 officials whose name figured in the first list," a senior official of State Vigilance Organization said.
He said the sacking of these officers/officials involves invoking of the existing clause of J&K Civil Services Rules (JKCSR), as per which the government has to assess the performance of an officer/official after he/she completes 48 years of age or 22 years of service.
Besides on October 18, the J&K Government dismissed 12 employees for participating in protests during the ongoing unrest.
The dismissal of Chief Engineers along with few KAS officers has certainly got government officers worried. "Now few senior bureaucrats have been framed in the second list of corrupt officials and they have been making serious efforts to halt any action to be taken on the list," sources said.
