Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17: When he was promoted as Executive Engineer in the last year of his service some six years ago, he probably wanted to leave his mark as the most corrupt officer the state has ever seen.
The list of properties owned by the former engineer who is based in Srinagar would shock and surprise even a successful businessman.
Sample this: two palatial houses in posh areas of Srinagar and Jammu, a huge factory in Samba, a flat in Noida, and so on and so forth.
Before retiring in 2010-11, the engineer managed to establish factory in Samba in the name of his son, said sources.
The level of his involvement in corrupt practices could be gauged from the fact that he got admission for his daughter in a professional course after paying 'donation' of Rs 20 lakh.
"In addition, he also paid over Rs 10 lakh for the studies of his son who has completed engineering from some private college from outside the state," said sources.
The engineer did not stop here only. He built palatial house in one of the posh areas of Jammu, which probably costs in crores.
If sources are to be believed, the retired officer reconstructed his house in one of the posh areas of Srinagar.
"His house was single floored which got damaged in 2014 floods. Though the damages were minor, the officer managed to take full compensation owing to his official position. Now he has constructed double storied structure costing crores of rupees at the same place and the work is still in progress," said sources, adding that he is also investing huge money on a factory which he established in Samba in the name of his son.
Sources said the officer in question became Executive Engineer in the last year of his service.
"This is the declared property. the officer is also holding unaccounted money," said sources.
