JKSAC urges State, Central govt to clarify quantum of relief compensation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , Dec 17: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a meeting held at the premises of School, Brehevi Tehsil Kalakote, where DP's of all the Panchayats participated in large numbers urged upon both the State and Central govt. to clarify the quantum of relief compensation along with other components to be paid to DP's of 1947 from POK in lieu of their left over properties. The DP's in the meeting lauded the role of hon'ble Mehbooba Mufti and her govt. for getting released Rs. 2000 crore package and also urged upon the State govt. to prepare a road map separately for each category of DP's particularly for DP's of 1947 from POK as they are the worst sufferers and are awaiting the justice from the last seven decades. While addressing the gathering Gurdev Singh President along with Netar Prakash said that it is highly unjustified to treat all the DP categories at par, as the DP's of 1947 from POK, besides, losing their dignity and honour, they lost all the movable and immovable properties in 1947 turmoil. So they cannot be equated with any other category of DP's. He said that while calculating the quantum of relief compensation for each category the govt. should keep in mind their loss of lives and properties. He maintained that despite of many meetings and representations the govt. has failed to clarify the status of package. This mind set and silence of the govt. has created confusion among DP's. He further said that though the news appeared through govt. sources in section of press that Rs. 2000 crore is only a part of relief compensation but not full and final settlement. It has also been endorsed by Jitendra Singh Minister PMO that Rs. 5.5 lacs paid to each DP family is not a final installment, but still an urgent clarification is needed regarding the quantum of relied compensation to be paid to each DP family along with reservation for their wards to take out the DP's from the darkness of the confusion which is becoming a cause of resentment among them. If the govt's intensions are clear then they should not hesitate to decide the adequate quantum of relief compensation for each category taking into account their loss of lives and properties. He further reiterated the demand that the amount of package be disbursed at tehsil headquarter of each district. The Tehsildars of all the respective districts of Jammu region be designated powers to accept the application forms with requisite documents and verify the same for the proper identification and compensation be paid under direct benefit transfer system, as it will make the system of disbursal much easier, smooth and transparent otherwise the flow of thousands of DP's to submit their application at one place would be a great harassment and costly affairs for them and moreover it will encourage the touts and agents to cheat them, which will open the flood gates of corruption. He appealed the administration to think seriously about the problem before starting the disbursement of package and make necessary arrangements to provide this facility to DP's at their door steps to relieve them from the mental strain of running from pillar to post. He cautioned the DP's that until and unless they will not strive hard and show their strength they shall not be able to achieve the relief target of Rs. 30 lacs for each family along with other components as recommended by Joint parliamentary Committee. |
