'Awareness programme on Breast Cancer organized

JAMMU, Dec 17: Breast Cancer Awareness programme was organized by Medanta -The Medicity Gurgaon in Association with Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu here at Akhnoor road.
Principal Women Polytechnic for Women welcomes the Speaker Dr Kanchan Kaur (Breast Cancer Specialist) from Medanta Gurgaon by presenting the bouque by Er. Neelanjana Manwati (Principal).
Dr Kanchan kaur (Associate Director) Medanta Breast Services through their slides mentioned RISKFACTORS:.A close relative who has breast cancer-Sister, Mother, Daughter and Aunt, early age at starting periods or late age at menopause., Late age(over30years) at first child birth or having no children, Obesity and lack of exercise, high intake of animals fats or meat, having had cancer of the opposite breast, having taken birth control pills (oral contra-ceptives) or hormones for prolonged periods, women over 45years with 75% dense tissue in breasts.
She also emphasized on preventions on how one can Prevent the diseases like breast Cancer, Early Breast cancer generally causes no symptoms in the Detection, beginning. If you detect it early enough, it can be removed without having spread to the rest of your body, thus increasing chances of survival, Perform breast self examination every month as described below. Any findings should always be reported to your doctor. Get your doctor to check your breasts once every year, Get a mammogram once a year after the age of 40.Mammography can detect about 90% of cancers, Try and control excessive weight gain, Don't eat too many high fat foods or excessive quantities of fatty meats. Exercise regularly.
The HOD's, Specialist and Students of govt. Polytechnic for Women and various other departments attended the Programme. There was a healthy discussion and interactive session between the students.
Er. Neelanjana Manwati (Principal) was also honored by Medanta for organizing such awareness programme in the premises of Govt. Polytechnic for Women. She appreciated the opportunity being provided by Sudhanshu Sharma Sr. Manager Medanta-The Medicity for J&K and shows his willingness in organizing such awareness programme on health for general public of state.
