Jammu Students to get Legal studies at Secondary level from March | | | Shive Dev Thakur Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 17: In a landmark decision in favour of the Students of Jammu and Kashmir and to strengthen their base, the JKBOSE has decided to start the legal studies at Secondary level from the coming session. The inclusion of the legal studies at Seconadry level will be helpful in imparting the least working knowledge with regard to various aspects of law thereby making them technically strong in various fields of life. Few of the students at village level being desirous of seeking studies of Legal subjects expressed their views and told Early Times that the inclusion of the legal studies at School level will not only improve their knowledge but will also make them aware of the rules and laws as well as their violation that will help the students to stay away from the evils of the society. A lecturer posted at a Ramnagar shared, "the decision of the JKBOSE will be helpful to the students studying in the remote areas as the inclusion of legal studies as a part of curriculum for the students of all streams in general and in particular will facilitate all those who are desirous to choose the field of legal subject in their further studies after passing Class 12th." He added that the students would get the knowledge of Child Rights, Lok Adalat, Consumer Laws, Domestic violence and Judicial system in India which will be accommodating the awareness among the villagers that may reduce some violations of law". Mehek Gupta, an LLM degree holder said, " I will be an opportunity for the Law degree holders as the specialized faculty having LLM as basic qualification are scheduled to be appointed to teach the subject which will accommodate many unemployed Law Students" . when contacted by Early Times, Kaneez Fatima, Director Academics JKBOSE said, "we have framed some strategies for prescribing syllabi of legal studies as one of the elective subject in the academics at secondary level". She added that the surveys are going on and the subject will be introduced in the upcoming session at Jammu following March most probably", "while the subject will be included in Kashmir later", she added. |
