Counter insurgency operations to be intensified in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 27: Following the announcement of the Army Chief, Gen. Bipin Rawat, that terrorists be eliminated in clean operations and after the state police was being equipped with latest weapons and 150 bullet-proof gypsies indications are that the ensuing summer months may experience series of counter insurgency operations against militants. The Central Govern-ment and the state authorities are worried over the increase in the number of youth joining militancy and in this connection operation against militants could be stepped up. It has been seen, that too for the first time since 1990, that whenever militants, what her belonging to LeT or JeM are buried after their killing in operations by the security forces several thousand people participate in the burial. Not only this most of the youth shout either pro-freedom or pro-Pakistan slogans. And the State Government could divert the attention of those youth joining militancy by resolving the problem of unemployment. Since majority of the youth in Kashmir are without jobs they are lured by militants after they receive monetary help. It is in the context of stepping up counter insurgency operations that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is all set to include over 150 bulletproof gypsies in its fleet, a step taken after increasing terror attacks on forces, a police official said. |
