Jammu, Mar 27: The comment of National Conference Working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is conspiring against Article 370 and Article 35-A has created a flutter. Many people believe that BJP won't fiddle with both the Articles as it has bartered party's ideology and agenda for the sake of power.
It may be recalled that Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir while replying to a written question from BJP MP Ashwini Kumar informed the Lok Sabha that there is no proposal to scrap Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, under the government's consideration.
Reacting to Ahir's statement Omar took to the twitter and wrote: " By getting constituents of the wider Sangh Parivar to file petitions in court the Government can make these assertions while the BJP conspires against Art 370 & 35A in the Supreme Court."
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "BJP has given it in writing to its coalition ally Peoples Democratic Party in the Agenda of Alliance that it won't rake up the issue of abrogation of Article 370."
He said that after Ahir's statement, the Chief spokesman of PDP Rafi Mir described it as the vindication of the PDP's stand and stated that "it's due to Agenda of Alliance that union government has cleared the air over Article 370 and has made it clear that it won't be scrapped."
A Kashmir watcher said, "BJP during the past three years has acted as second fiddle of the PDP and has made big compromises for power. BJP leaders want to keep Kashmir centric leaders happy and for that they have compromised with the ideology of their party." |
