State Govt goes soft towards separatists, allows anti-national activities | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 27: Government seems to have gone soft towards separatists who indulged in anti-national activities in Kashmir Valley. For the last many days, the government has allowed several separatist leaders to indulge in anti India rant and make provocative speeches. The National Investigating Agency had tightened noose around separatists after which they preferred to remain confined to mere publicity. "That was a pressure tactic by the separatists. But the investigating agency did not show any soft approach and arrested several other separatists," a police official said. However, the state government is now allowing separatists to do anti-national activities. First it was a banned women's group, which was allowed to celebrate Pakistan day and hoist Pakistan flags. Dukhtaran-e-Milat figures among the 36 militant groups in the banned list, framed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Similarly, the government allowed the meeting of separatists Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Sunday evening. The trio last evening held a two-and-a-half-hour-long meeting, their first in the past three months. The meeting was held two days after newly-elected Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai's son Junaid Ashraf joined militancy. "The complete silence adopted by world community (on Kashmir issue) is lending a helping hand to the Government of India and its stooges to commit more human rights violations in Kashmir…. To secure the future of billions of people of South Asia, there is high need to take concrete steps to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue," the statement issued after the meeting reads. In the meeting, sources said they discussed how to counter the NIA arrests and pressurize the government to ensure releasing of separatist leaders. On Tuesday, the government also allowed the separatists to participate in a seminar organized by the High Court Bar Association at Lower Court Srinagar. In the seminar the separatists, Mohammad Yasin Malik and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai made provocative and anti-national speeches. Sources said that government has decided to go soft despite separatists' anti-national activities. "I fail to understand how come anti-national activities are allowed in the Valley while the separatists should have been in jail," police sources said. |
