Azad sounds alarm, Cong leaders gear up | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 27: Amidst speculations that PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir may not complete its terms and the Assembly elections are held along with Lok Sabha polls, Congress aspirants for the mandate have started looking for the support in their claim. Not only the new aspirants but also the Congress stalwarts, who are quite confident of getting party mandate, are exploring the options of shifting to suitable constituencies in case of rotation of the reserved seats in State. According to the sources, some prominent Congress leaders are worried over the reports of possible rotation of reserved constituencies, which the PDP-BJP Coalition Government is purportedly mulling to avoid anti-incumbency in the Assembly elections. Speculations are agog that the reserved seats of Khour, R S Pura, Hiranagar, Chenani, Samba, Ramban and Domana are likely to be opened while Akhnoor, Reasi, Billawar, Ramnagar, Marh, Suchetgarh and Gandhi Nagar may be reserved. These reports have forced the Congress aspirants from these 14 seats to look for alternative choice in case of rotation and some of them have even identified the alternate constituencies, sources said adding that that attempts are also being made to take the party high command is confidence. While elaborating, sources said that Sham Lal Sharma and Madal Lal Sharma are eyeing on Domana and Khour Assembly constituencies in case of rotation even as both Mula Ram and Tara Chand are not willing to shift to other seats in case of rotation. Similarly, sources added, Raman Bhalla is exploring the possibility of shifting to R S Pura while Jugal Kishore Sharma and Manohar Lal have not yet up their mind to concentrate on the possible choice. As the Congress high command, particularly Ghulam Nabi Azad is aware of the fact that some senior leaders of the party are looking for suitable constituencies in case of rotation, there are reports that a caution has been sounded to avoid infighting on the claims of mandate. Sources in Congress circles said that a clear message in this regard was conveyed by Mr Azad to the party leader during his yesterday visit to Jammu with an advise that final decision on mandate should be left on the high command only. |
