Early Times Report Anantnag, Mar 27: Private School owners on Tuesday out rightly rejected the proposal moved by Jammu and Kashmir Police seeking reservation and concession in fee for their children in private schools. Sources revealed to Early Times that around 30 schools from various areas of South Kashmir met Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Kashmir Range here in Anantnag and deliberated on the issue. "During the meeting most of the private school owners refused to provide any kind of reservation and concession in fee for the children of police cops in their schools," said sources. School owners conveyed to authorities that they were facing financial crunch and can't provide any reservation and concession to wards of police cops. Manzoor Ahmad, Vice President Private School Association said they didn't attend meeting that was scheduled today at DIG office in Anantnag. "Some schools owners have gone and attended the meeting in individual capacity. It is unacceptable and we stand with the statement of Chairman of Private Schools Association," he added. However a police officer claimed that most of the schools owners who attended the meeting responded positively. "It wasn't a directive but a proposal," he added. Important to recall here, Jammu and Kashmir police wants private schools management to provide "reservation and concession in fee" to their children in exchange for "necessary practice/training to the children" by police for celebrating important days. "Police Headquarters J&K, Jammu has constituted a committee with the aim to approach reputed schools for providing reservation in the classes and concession in fee to the wards of Police personnel in lieu of which police shall offer to provide necessary practice/training to the children in such schools on important national/school functions being celebrated during the year," says the communiqué issued by the police to private schools. In Srinagar, G N Var, Chairman of Private Schools Association told media that they will not allow any any reservation or concession of fee to the wards of the policemen. "We will not allow any reservation or concession of fee to the wards of the policemen. It amounts to policing of schools. If we allow it, it will set a precedent and tomorrow other security agencies will ask us for the same," he said. |
