Rajouri, Mar 27: In a shocking incident of fratricide, a man killed his elder brother in Rajouri on Monday following a scuffle over land dispute.
The deceased has been identified as 28 years old Balwan Singh and the accused as Surjit Singh, both sons of Anant Singh R/o Kha village under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station.
Police have arrested the accused and hospitalized him as he had also received injuries during physical scuffle and have also seized the .303 gun along with three empty bullets reportedly used in the murder.
Police have booked the accused under section 302 RPC and started investigation. Police said the deceased Balwan Singh was driver by profession and mostly stayed away while the accused brother stayed at home and was engaged in agricultural activities.
Both had long pending dispute over a piece of land and on Monday when Balwan turned up at home the family members tried to resolve the issue peacefully but it took ugly turn resulting in physical scuffle.
In a fit of rage, Balwan Singh took out his VDC gun and fired at on his brother Surjit Singh who died before he could be reached to the hospital.
Police team headed by Tahir Khan, SHO, rushed to the village and arrested the accused. After legal formalities police also seized the weapon used in the offence. Police brought the body to district hospital for postmortem and later after legal formalities handed over it to family for his last rites.
