Chinar branches fall on boy, killed | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 29: A pedestrian was killed today when several branches of a Chinar tree fell on him due to a windstorm at Sumbal in North Kashmiri's Bandipora district. Eye witnesses said that at around 3:30 pm a strong windstorm took place in the area and a pedestrian who was walking alongside the road came under the impact of the branches of a Chinar tree and later died at Sumbal hospital The person was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Kumar who was in his early 20's son of Ghulam Qadir Kumar, a resident of Asham-Sumbal. As soon as the news of incident circulated in and adjoining areas of Sumbal, all the shopkeepers downed their shutters and held a strong protest against the district administration. The branches of Chinar tree also damaged several electrical poles and electrical wires as well. Traders Federation Sumbal has called for complete shutdown against the incident on Wednesday. |
