| Death of pregnant woman triggers protests | | People allege negligence, seek action against doctor | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, May 29: People from village Govindsar Kathua on Tuesday blocked the Jammu Pathankot National Highway for two hours and held protest demonstration against the doctor and staff of District Hospital Kathua for negligence, resulting into death of young pregnant woman and her unborn baby.
The women has been identified as Naina Devi (23), wife of Rajesh Kumar resident of Govindsar village Kathua. The woman was brought to District hospital Kathua for delivery by the family on Tuesday morning. She was kept there for several hours and no one attended to her in district hospital Kathua , Fice hours later when her condition deteriorated at 11 am she was referred by the gynecologist Dr Romy sharma to SMGC Hospital Jammu but she died on the way. Talking to media her husband Rajesh Kumar alleged that her wife and his unborn baby died due to negligence of Dr Romy Sharma and demanded stern action against him. Meanwhile at around 4 pm , the family members, relatives of deceased Naina Devi and some villagers assembled at District Hospital Kathua and blocked the Jammu Pathankot National Highway with the dead body of Naina Devi and started protest dharna demanding suspension of Dr Romy Sharma for negligence and registration of an FIR against her for double Murder
Later, DSP Kathua S.S sambyal and Tehsidar Kathua Jai Singh arrived on the spot and assured the protesting people to initiate magisterial inquiry and constitute Medical Board for autopsy. They assured action if charges were found against them. The people then lifted their protest dharna after two hours. |
