Katra, May 28: Adv. Ankur Sharma flagged of Clean Ban Ganga Campaign, under 8th edition of Save the Trikuta Mountains organised by International Volunteer Foundation in collaboration with Delhi Public School Katra, who was the Chief Guest of this event. The rally of 80 students and volunteers started from Katra to Ban Ganga wherein they raised slogans on environment protection, interacted with pilgrims, locals, shopkeepers, also distributed phamplets, displayed placards and spread the message of Clean Katra, Clean Ban Ganga. At the main Ghat, volunteers plunged into the Ban Ganga for its cleanliness and collected non biodegrable waste about 400 kg. Earlier, in a simple and impressive inaugural function, Adv. Ankur Sharma honoured the employees of Sanitation Wing, Ban Ganga, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, for maintaining cleanliness at Ban Ganga and track even during the days of heavy rush of pilgrims who often spread garbage in and around Ban Ganga. While interacting with the students volunteers, Ankur said they are the young Ambassadors of this Clean Ban Ganga Campaign and applauded their spirit to contribute for the cause of environment at the time when mercury level rises to 41 degree celsius. He appreciated the International Volunteer Foundation for their continuous effort to make Holy Trikuta Mountains Clean, Green and Plastic Free through mass participation in sanitation drives and awareness campaigns since March 2014. Kiran Kumar Sharma, Founder Save the Trikuta Mountains, said every year more than one crore pilgrims visited Katra for darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi ji at Bhavan. |
