JAMMU, Sept 15: Engineer's Day was celebrated with great fervor in Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) wherein the students and faculty members paid homage to the prominent engineer of India Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The event was started with the guest lecture organized by Computer Engineering Department on "Computer Simulation and its Applications" for the students of CSE and IT of all the semesters. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Devanand, Head of Computer Science and IT Department, Central University, Jammu. Prof. Devanand briefed the students about various Simulation Models and made the students familiar with the concept of simulation and its application in day-to-day life. To spark positive confidence in the budding Engineers, various competitions were organized in the College. Department of Electrical Engineering conducted an inter-department collage making competition for 3rd semester on the topic "Role of Engineering in Developing India". First prize was bagged by Pallavi and Duraksham, the students of Computer Engineering Department. Department of Applied Sciences also organizes an Inter-Departmental Oration Competition for the first semester students. The first prize was again bagged by the Computer Engineering department namely Ridhima Sharma. Steel club of Civil Engineering Department organized power point presentation on "Role of Engineers in Urban Society". The Chief Guest was Er. Aditya Sharma, Territory Manager, Ultra Tech Cement. The jury members for the evaluation of results for today events were Dr. Arvind Dewangan, Director, Dr. V.K. Koul, Dean Academics and Er. Nidhi Jamwal, Administrative Secretary. All the events were a learning experience for the students and faculty members. Er. Dinesh Gupta, HOD, CSE & IT, Er. Loveneesh Talwar HOD, Electrical, RakeshVerma, HOD, Applied Sciences and Er. Rajnish Magotra, HOD, Civil Engineering were also there to motivate the students. All the faculty members of the above departments were also in attendance throughout the events. |
