Poonch, Sept 15: Pir Panjal Youth Parliament (PPYP) today extended its support to Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers, who are on indefinite hunger strike for the past ten days, demanding their regularization and implementation of 7th pay commission. Vice President of Pir Panjal Youth Parliament (PPYP) Raza Ganai said that thousands of teachers in the state, engaged under the SSA are on an indefinite strike to protest against the government for 'adopting' delaying tactics in implementing benefits of the 7th pay commission to them and 'delinking' their salaries from the component paid by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD). "It has been 10-days since these teachers went on indefinite strike and some of them are on hunger strike, but the Government, it seems, is not bothered to solve their long pending demands. Though in the past five months, the Government constituted several committees to look for measures to address their issues, nothing has finalized till now, which has forced them to go on agitational path," he said. These teachers have been protesting ever since the previous PDP-led coalition government implemented 7th pay commission for all state government employees except SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters. |
