5 members of MAJK scaled two peaks in Ladakh Himalayas

JAMMU, Sept 25: Five members of Mountain-eering Association of J&K (MAJK) scaled two peaks in Ladakh Himalayas as a part of their training during Advance Mountaineering Course conducted by Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Pahalgam during August-September, 2018. While Vishali Sharma, Sunil Chakharia and Rahul Khajuria scaled Stock Kangri (6153m) Shilpa Charak and Raj Kumari were successful on Gulap Kangri (5800m). Another trainee Deepika Dutta was, however, unlucky to miss the peak because of ill health.
All the seven candidates of Mountaineering Association of J&K including a basic course candidate Anukampa Sharma, however, completed their courses successfully.
On their return from the course the climbers called on Ram Khajuria, General Secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K who congratulated them for their good showing in the training courses. He had a special word of appreciation for Shilpa Charak who won an award for "Endurance".
Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu and Advisor of Tawi Trekkers J&K and Shawetica Khajuria, Joint Secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K were prominent among others present on the occasion.
