Terrorists trying to shift base ahead of Panchayat polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Terrorists operating in the Valley are trying to shift their base from south to north Kashmir to disrupt the forthcoming Panchayat polls. Sources told Early Times that terrorists and their handlers are aware of the fact that people in north Kashmir are keen to contest the Panchayat polls and they would come forward in large numbers to participate in the exercise. An official said that to create fear in Sopore area terrorists on Sunday night abducted a 45-year old labourer and after labeling him as an informer of the security forces shot him dead. He said that terrorists are resorting to such acts to instill fear and insecurity among the people so that they stay away from the forthcoming polls. It's in place to mention here that Pakistan stooges Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have already launched a poll boycott campaign in Kashmir to appease their bosses sitting across the Line of Control. "Authorities should tighten noose around the separatists and confine their activities. Their supporters and henchmen are moving around in villages in south Kashmir and are intimidating the people to stay away from the poll process," said a source. He said, "Separatists are not finding the same support in north Kashmir as people are not paying any attention to their calls and propaganda." An analyst said, "It looks like that separatists are seeking the help of terrorists to create fear psychosis as they want violence and terror to prevail in the Valley." He said that terrorists killing a poor labourer did not evoke any response from the Pakistan stooges. "They just maintained silence over the cold blooded murder of an unarmed man. By remaining silent they have once again endorsed the ideology of the terrorists and their masters who want Kashmir to bleed and Kashmiris to get killed," the analyst added. He said in 2014, north Kashmir witnessed massive participation of people in assembly and parliamentary polls. "This time also there is every possibility of people coming out in large numbers to cast their votes in forthcoming Panchayat elections. If people come out to vote it would puncture the claims of the separatists would stand punctured and they will stand exposed," the analyst said. A security expert while talking to Early Times said that security forces have tightened their grip over northern areas in Kashmir and are not allowing terrorists to make inroads in any of the areas. "During past few days more than 20 terrorists have been gunned down in north Kashmir and they are not being allowed to establish their foothold in any of the districts," he added. |
