Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 25: Principal Session Judge Samba RK Wattal today convicted an accused under NDPS Act, with fine of Rs 10,000 and a 2 months imprisonment. After hearing Public Prosecutor Samba Bhupinder Singh Charak , accused was booked under FIR number 55 /2011, under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act at Police Station Ramgarh.
On 7th August, 2011, Ramgarh Police, while on Naka duty at Chak Salaria, Ramgarh intercepted a person who was moving under suspicious circumstances. They recovered a polythene bag containing 90 capsules of Paravan spas from his possession.
The accused was identified as Surjeet Singh S/o Gurmail Dass R/o Koulpur Tehsil Ramgarh, Samba. Taking cognizance into the matter, case was registered at P/S Ramgarh.
During the trial after hearing Public Prosecutor Bhupinder Singh Charak, the Court of Principal Session Judge Samba found sufficient evidences connecting the accused with crime. Accordingly the accused was held guilty and convicted for the commission of offense under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act.
In view of the fact that accused is a drug consumer and not a trader, as such, he is directed to be released on furnishing surety bond of Rs 25000 for maintaining the good behaviour for 6 months. If he repeats the offence, he will be called upon by the court to pay fine and suffer the imprisonment in default, the court ruled.
