9/25/2018 10:31:01 PM
Early Times Report
udhampur, Sept 25: Members of NGO- Jiyo aur Jeene Do organized an anti polythene drive in the city with a motive to encourage all the hawkers, stalls and vegetable sellers to completely shun the polythene from their hands. The members appealed the hawker owners, rehri and other stall owners, vegetable and fruit sellers to completely stop its usage as it forms a majority of the garbage of the town. Its effects are seen in pollution of rivers also and not only humans but animals are also affected by harms of polythene. Speaking on the occasion, the President of NGO Tariq Shah said, " Polythene has been banned since last few years but unfortunately it is still be seen in people's hands while carrying daily essentials. We have appealed people as well as administration many a times before this also. Now a days people are seen pledging not to use it but when still this is seen in our town , it raises many questions like from where do these come if it is been banned and how these are been sold and used.
It is required to be mentioned here that almost 65 percent of garbage of the town includes polythene bags.
