Kathua, Sept 23: An independent candidate Ravinder Singh Jasrotia from Ward Number 19 today filed his nomination from his ward for urban local body elections.
The state election department on Thursday issued a notification for the second phase of the four-phased urban local body poll in Jammu and Kashmir.
Along with hundreds of his supporters, Ravinder Singh after filing nomination, promised to work for the welfare of ward 19 as well as entire Municipality. SVEEP organizes function to educate voters Rajouri, Sept 25: To educate voters about their right to vote under\ Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP), M.A. Asad , district election officer (DEO) who is also DDEC organized a mega voter's awareness camp at Nowshera today.
Hundreds of people were sensitized about importance of vote and were urged to ensure their participation in coming urban local body elections in Rajouri scheduled to be held on October 8. Sachin Dev Singh, ADC, Nowshera exhorted upon participants to exercise right to franchise for their social, economic and political emancipation.
"Election Commission of India has taken specially initiative to enhance participation in the election process". He sought active cooperation of the participants in further dissemination of message regarding the importance of taking part in election process and greater participation is key to stronger democracy.
Nodal officer SVEEP,DFO Nowshera Vijay Kumar have arranged various activities like painting ,slogan writing, Nukad Natak etc in whic different schools college participated in these events. Master Popsy ASP; deputy chief education officer (DCEO) and principals of various schools were present during the occasion.
