Bhaderwah Campus organizes Women T20 Cricket match

Bhaderwah, Oct 3: In a step to empower women in the field of culture as well as sports activities, an inter-department Women T20 Cricket match was played between the B Ed 3rd and B Ed 1st semester students at the cricket ground of Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu.
First of its kind for women, the tournament was organized by State Cricket Academy in which as many as 14 teams participated. B Ed 3rd semester won the toss and elected to field first. In the stipulated 20 over match, B Ed 1st Semester scored 95 for the loss of six wickets. Playing captains inning, Savita scored highest 35 runs Diksha took four wickets.
In reply, B Ed 3rd Semester chased 95 runs in 11 over's with the loss of one wicket only. Suman Sharma playing a responsible inning and scored 53 runs, thus B Ed 3rd semester registered their victory by winning the match with nine wickets in hand. Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. GM Bhat who was the chief guest on the occasion congratulated both the teams for playing first ever T20 Women's Crickets match at Bhaderwah Campus. Encouraging the girls with his kind words, Prof. Bhat said.
"Time has changed now and girls have to come forward and show their power and it is a positive sign that they are coming out in good numbers to excel in all fields He further thanked the District Development Doda Simrandeep Singh for talking keen interest in promoting sports and cultural activities in the Doda district.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus said that the main aim of the match was to see the talent of the girls and train them. "This will help in polishing their skills further. This is a big platform for them," he added. This T20 match was witnessed by large number of students and faculty members of the campus and the youth from the surrounding villages.
