Early Times Report Kulgam, Oct 3: A distressed family from South Kashmir's Kulgam district has came forward to make an appeal to their son, whose photo with a gun is being circulating in the social media, to come back home. Shoib Ahmad Lone, an engineering student, who hails from Burath Village of Kulgam district, had gone missing and last week his photograph with an assault rifle on social media sites. The youth, family and police authorities believe, to have joined militant ranks. Lone's family on Wednesday made fervent appeal to their son and urged him to return home. "Come back my dear son. I don't know where you have gone," Lone's mother Maneera says in video. The father of Shoib Ahmad Lone died in early nineties, family members said, they also appealed him to return home. According to official figures, in past six months, over a dozen youths, who had joined militants, returned to mainstream following appeal by parents, friends besides assurance by the police that no case will be registered against them. Last year in the month of November, Footballer-turned-militant Majid Khan of South Kashmir's Anantnag district abandoned militancy and handed himself to Army after his family made him a similar appeal. |
