DB directs DFO Poonch ensure all eviction orders are duly served upon encroachers
PIL seeking action against land 'encroachers'

Jammu, Oct 3: Inhabitants of Hari have sought directions to the respondents to initiate eviction proceedings against the land mafia'/encroachers who have encroached more than 2100 kanals of forest land falling- in Forest compartment at Village Hari, Tehsil Surankole,-District Poonch. The villagers have filed a Public Interest Litigation in the court in this regard.
A Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta after hearing both the sides observed that survey report has been filed by Divisional Forest Officer, Poonch, wherein it is stated that after verification, a conclusion has been arrived at that 127 persons have encroached the forest land falling under compartment No 51/A and evection orders have been issued to those persons.
The counsel appearing for the PIL litigants sought time to respond the status report so filed, Division Bench granted five weeks time to file response. Meanwhile, Division Bench directed DFO Poonch shall ensure that all the eviction orders are duly served upon the persons, against whom eviction orders have been passed. DB also directed to file status report regarding steps taken by the DFO.
