Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 26: In order to strength the security system in and around Kishtwar town, police along with District Administration has taken up various measures including the installation of Nakkas at entry and exit points leading to Kishtwar town by erecting concrete bunkers at vulnerable places.
As per the details available with "Early Times", after the killing of BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar, the BJP and other organizations had demanded installation of bunkers within the Kishtwar town which was removed with return of the peace in Chenab valley, once a strong bastion of militancy some 15 years ago.
The installation of Nakkas begins from Dak Banglow Chowk where a bunker was constructed at the main entry point leading to Kishtwar town; however Kishtwar police said that it was simply a Nakka and not the bunker.
Speaking to "Early Times" SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta said that no bunker has been installed in any part of Kishtwar town and added that only Nakkas which was earlier in place had been restored.
In response to the question on installation of CCTV cameras in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas as was demanded by the general public from time to time, SSP Kishtwar said that they are vigorously following the project.
Meanwhile BJP State General Secretary Youth wing Ashish Sharma welcomed the installation of bunkers in Kishtwar and added that this will strengthen the security of the common people who are facing threat from militants and anti national elements.
Reacting over the issue, Senior National Conference leader Imtiyaz Zarger said that they were not against the strengthening of security of a common people and said that instead of installing bunkers within the populated areas, the administration should install these bunkers or Nakkas outside the Kishtwar town. He said that installing bunkers in congested & populated areas will make the people & security forces vulnerable to terror attacks. He said that instead of installation of bunkers, the police and administration should concentrate on installation of CCTV cameras, beside to maximize the use of technology in this regard.
Former MLA Kishtwar Sunil Sharma also supported the demand of installation of bunkers and added that these bunkers are for security of common citizen without his religious allegiance. He termed the installation of bunkers as need of the hour.
