Now PDP-Hurriyat on same page against SAC decision | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 26: Even as the State Accountability Commission(SAC)'s decision of brining transparency in the J&K Bank has been widely hailed by the common people of Jammu and Kashmir, "Pakistan proxies" have come out in support of a section of influential people in Kashmir, "whose personal interests have come at stake." After a section of business community like the Kashmir Economic Alliance and mainstream parties like the Peoples Democratic Party, the Hurriyat leadership has joined the chorus seeking rollback of the historic orders. Sources said Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front would join the voices soon through roadside demonstrations. Sources said a top Hurriyat leader had got instructions from his "Pakistani handlers" that he must speak against the Raj Bhawan decision as it was against the interests of some influential people. Sources said a senior PDP leader who was also a minister in the previous government had also allegedly contacted Hurriyat M Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to speak against the Raj Bhawan's decision. Sources said the Mirwaiz had told the PDP leader that he would speak on the issue on Sunday, when he was scheduled to address an event in Srinagar. The Mirwaiz criticized the decision of the state government to treat J&K Bank as a public-sector undertaking (PSU). "We can't remain silent of new ploy of Government of India about staking claim on J&K bank which is a people's institution," said the Mirwaiz, while addressing a function at Mirwaiz Manzil. He said New Delhi wanted to target Kashmir's economic institutions. Mirwaiz urged the people to forge unity on the lines on 2016 mass agitation to fight the move. Sources said in the coming days the Hurriyat would only intensify its conspiracy against the Raj Bhawan's decision. The Mirwaiz joined the chorus only after Governor's Administration clarified the "government had no intention of interfering in the day-to-day affairs of the J&K Bank and the Bank's functional autonomy with its Board of Directors as supreme decision-making body remains unquestioned and the Bank will continue to be regulated by the RBI." An official spokesperson said that the latest decision taken by the State Administrative Council (SAC) is only aimed at promoting good governance and transparency in the functioning of the Bank. Sources said New Delhi is keenly monitoring the developments that are taking place in Kashmir with regard to the SAC decision on J&K Bank. |
