Now militants take 'photograph' outside police station in Srinagar | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 26: Even as the police have been claiming that no militant conference took place in the summer capital and that pictures making such claims were morphed, in the latest a picture has surfaced of a militant who took a "photograph" out Police Station in the heart Srinagar here. The picture that claims to have been taken at the Residency Road at midnight has been taken outside Kothi Bagh Police Station that lies on the same road. The picture, said to be of the militant, Abu Umair Al Hizbi, shows himself holding the gun. The said photograph that has gone viral on the social media claims that it was taken on November 21 at around 2:41 AM. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker is also just near to the spot. It is pertinent to mention here that the militants from the group Hizbul Mujahideen had claimed that they would hold a meeting in Srinagar on the said day. But the police have been denying such reports. A senior police official told Early Times that such photographs are have been morphed using software. It is the second such picture that has come up on the social media in the last couple of days. Earlier another such picture had appeared on the social media. The picture was taken near a Central Reserve Police Force bunker at Lal Chowk. As already reported by Early Times, New Delhi has taken a serious note of such developments while the police are likely to file a report before the Raj Bhawan in the coming days. It was reliably learnt from sources that a police official of the rank of Superintendent of Police has been asked to complete the inquiry and see if the pictures were really taken here. The police have already intensified vigil in the summer capital. "We have been closely monitoring the movements in the area and there's no chance that they (militants) may have ventured into the city for any meeting," said a police official on the condition of anonymity. Meanwhile the security forces have intensified operations against the militants in Kashmir. Over one dozen militants were killed in less than a week in south Kashmir. |
