Jammu, July 31: Officers from Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Jammu and Kashmir regional unit and Chandigarh zonal unit, conducted search and seizure operations at M/S GS MALL (Wave Mall) and Safa Valley, BATHINDI on July 29-30.
Reports said the search operation was conducted in connection with intelligence developed by the DGGI Jammu regarding various violations of GST law done by these two business entities.
The DGGI is a premier intelligence agency of Ministry of Finance, government of India which is mandated to gather intelligence and investigate in cases of GST evasion all across India.
During the search operations, many irregularities were found in accounts of Safa Valley which was resulting in evasion of GST. The developer has accepted the irregularities and deposited around Rs 4.5 crore to government accounts immediately, reports said. Further investigations are being carried out to estimate the total evasion.
Regarding searches carried out at offices of owners and developers of M/S Wave Mall Pvt Ltd, many irregularities were detected, which include wrong GST payments by way of concealed data, irregular input tax credit and some other legal irregularities. Initial estimates show that GST evaded may be in crores. Further investigations are on to finalise the total amount.
The search teams were led by Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Chowdhry (IRS), Deputy Director, DGGI, J&K.
