Parray divorces Congress after 44 yrs, joins PC | | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 31: Senior Congress leader from north Kashmir has finally quit the All India National Congress (AINC) after remaining with it for at least 44 years and today joined the Peoples Conference. Former MLC Mohammad Muzaffar Parry has shot his resignation letter to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, regretting that he was not given appointment to meet her and Rahul Gandhi by a whom he did not name. Parray while talking to early times said that, my workers were always ignored, they have sacrificed everything for the sake of party. But no attention was paid to them, even though they put every effort to strengthen it at grass root level, but enough is enough, I was not in a position to bear their sufferings, said former Supreme Court Lawyer. When asked about the reasons about quitting the party, he said that he has mentioned in his letter that deserting the camp was not because the party has been put to rout, but due to its departure from the basic philosophy of the party. He said he was dismayed for not being provided an audience by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. I have sold my land, not my conscience and I am a gold medalist from Aligarh Muslim University. I have been a Supreme Court and High Court Lawyer, so it was impossible to bear the sufferings of my workers who have left no stone unturned for the sake of party, and since 1975 I had been in the Congress party, said Parray. He said that, It is most painful after 44 years with unblemished record in politics I feel prey to the machinations of so called leaders, adding our workers were tormented, so it was need of an hour to resign from the party. Meanwhile senior congress leader and ex member of Legislative Council Muzaffar Parray along with his workers joined Peoples Conference in presence of PC Chairman Sajad Gani Lone and other party leaders today. Before the joining of Parray into the PC, many former MLAs from Baramulla and other parts of north Kashmir have joined the party, including Imran Raza Ansari, Abbas Wani, Abdul Gani Vakil and their workers. |
