Militant hideout busted in Kupwara forests | Skirmish on borders, fear psychosis among general masses | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, July 31: Security forces busted a militant hideout in a forest area of Lolab in this Kupwara district today and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, while as fear has gripped the local masses that are living close to the borders in north Kashmir. A top police official told early times that, acting on a specific information, SOG Sogam and 28RR Army launched a joint search operation in a forest area in Lolab and busted a militant hideout. "After getting a specific lead about the hideout, a joint team of security forces went on the spot and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions including three AK 47 Magazines 3, 148 AK 47 rounds, 3 ART grenades, and a green pouch, and in this regard case has been registered and started investigations, the police official said. The police official said that, beyond from recoveries of war like store, some food item were also recovered from the spot, that are most probably made up in Pakistan. Meanwhile there are reports that, a woman was killed in alleged shelling by Pakistan along the line of control in Bagtore sector of Gurez area in Bandipora district. Woman was identified as Rahmie Bano W/O Abdul Ahad Bhat, R/O Dassi Bagtore, she was hit by a splinter resulting into her critical injuries, said reports. Reports said the lady was moved to Community Health Centre where from she was referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar where she succumbed to her injuries. Sources also said that, three militants were killed in an encounter at Baktur area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector. Army had foiled the infiltration bid in the area, and alerted its jawans to be ready if any aggression from other side of LoC was made, said a senior army official. From yesterday afternoon, the tension has gripped along the Line of Controls in north Kashmir districts, as both the armies of India and Pakistan have been exchanging fire and mortar along the Line of Control in north Kashmir. On July 30, Pakistan Army violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on LoC in the various villages of Tangdar and Keran sectors of Kupwara district. While as there was an exchange of fire in Uri sector also, where Pakistani rangers did an unprovoked firing on Indian posts, however the Indian army gave them befitting reply to their aggressions, sources informed early times. Pakistani troops opened fire from across the border near Churanda village in Hajipeer area of border town Uri this evening. There was no immediate report of any casualty, but people have been asked to remain vigil, and not move outside of their residences, or venture on upper hills. Pertinently, India and Pakistan armies on Tuesday also trade shelling along Line of Control (LoC) in Mohra sector of Uri, Tanghdar, Keran, Jumgund and Gurez. |
