BJP leadership wants to hold the Assembly polls during 2019 | | | The BJP leadership is not bothered over revocation of Article 370 and Article 35-A but is interested in the early holding of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP's central leadership would hold a meeting with its Jammu and Kashmir leaders soon to discuss the possibility of holding he Assembly elections between October and November. The leadership is not to discuss the issues of revocation of Article 370 or Article 35-A. If Party sources are to be believed the party leadership in the centre is slated to meet state leaders to chalk out their preparedness for facing the electorate. BJP leaders will take stock of the party's preparedness for the upcoming elections, whose schedule is likely to be announced by the Election Commission after the Amarnath Yatra is completed next month. The Union minister Jitendra Singh, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, its state unit president Ravinder Raina and other senior leaders from the state will attend the meeting, which is likely to be chaired by party's working president JP Nadda senior leaders including BJP general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh also attended it. Nadda may travel to the state in the coming days to oversee and tone up the party's organisational work for the elections. Earlier, Madhav, who is the party's pointsman for Jammu and Kashmir, had urged the EC to hold polls in the state this year. This indicates that the Kashmir centric political leaders have unfounded fears about revoking Article 370 and Article 35-A. when the BJP, both at the state and in the centre, are interested in holding the Assembly polls. Commenting on the plan of the BJP to do away with Articles 370 and 35-A Dr Farooq Abdullah, the NC chief and former Chief Minister, said let the centre withdraw all the central laws extended to the state and go back to 1947. Does he mean that he is preparing for Pakistan tribals to attack Kashmir? As was the case in 1947. Who will resist the tribal invasion because once the state goes back to 1947 the Indian troops may also leave the valley and leave the border easy for the invaders to cross into Srinagar. Already the National Conference is competing with the PDP while berating the centre for its plan to revoke Article 370 and Article 35-A. This means that neither the National Conference leadership is prepared to allow the PDP to regain power nor the PDP may prevent the NC from regaining power. But there National Conference may face the electorate with confidence and may ultimately win the polls but the PDP has missed the bus as it forged an alliance with the BJP, the party that may not count in Kashmir during the polls. |
