COVID-19: Udhampur administration starts "ration on wheel"

UDHAMPUR, Mar 24: As the Government has issued various orders/ advisories to combat the spread of COVID19 and maintenance of social distancing. In continuation to orders, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla today made special arrangements "ration on wheel" for delivery of ration at door steps of households by ration stores/depots/fair price shop dealers of FCS&CA in Udhampur town through volunteers to avoid gatherings at ration stores.
The customers have been asked to book their order with their concerned ration dealer over phone from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and ration dealer will ensure home delivery of the order through special arrangement "ration on wheel".
District administration has given the task to 100 volunteers of various organizations like REKs, BS&Gs, NSS, civil volunteers and staff of various departments. The officials have been deployed for area wise distribution of ration and other essentials. Ration dealers have mobilized special carts for which curfew passes have been issued.
Faz-Lul-Haseeb, Probationer and Arif Lone AD FCS&CA are personally monitoring the house to house distribution; initially this step is started in 13 stores of Udhampur town catering more than 60000 populations.
The Government ration stores have been closed for onsite ration distribution to avoid gathering at stores and to promote social distancing in the town, people in need of ration are required to book their order with concerned ration dealer/fair price shop over phone calls and concerned dealer will make home delivery of the order.
The DDC also appealed to general public to stay at home and also said that District administration is committed to providing them all essential services. He also made an appeal to general public in general and elected representatives in particular to identify poor and destitutes who do not have any source of income during this time of crisis so that free aid can be provided to them.
DDC further added that all kind of essential commodities/services shops/business establishments like Grocery (retailers, wholesalers, distributors) Dairy, Fruits, Vegetables, Chemists etc shall be allowed to operate from morning 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and evening 5PM to 7PM in Udhampur town and Karyana shops not ensuring home delivery shall be closed.
