Covid19: Police official under scanner for 'misuse' of official position | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 24: A senior police official of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has come under the scanner of the government for the alleged misuse of his official position something which has allegedly brought coronavirus into Kashmir. Official sources said that a few days ago a close relative of the said official landed at the Srinagar airport but instead of being put to the mandatory examination by team of doctors on duty there, the passenger was allowed to move out "hassle free". Source said the said police official of the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police in JKP had allegedly put influence on the government officials at the airport to let his relative go home without any medical inspection. Sources said the said passenger left for home like a VIP from the airport. Sources said from there the said passenger reached her home in Srinagar and was diagnosed of coronavirus a few days later. A senior doctor at the SK Institute of Medical Science said that due to undue influence utilized by the police official hundreds of people in Kashmir became vulnerable to corona virus. "Had the patient undergone medical inspection the doctors would have rushed her to hospital but in this case, she was allowed to go home and thus must have infected numerous people," said the doctor. Source said in the wake of his relative getting diagnosed with corona virus the said police official has been put in quarantine. "He(SSP) and his wife both have been quarantined," said a source in police department. The source said some of the officials in the government have taken a serious note of the misconduct as allegedly done by the said official. "His misconduct has made entire Kashmir vulnerable to coronavirus. If police remains silent on such a sensitive issue, it will be seen as gross misconduct and indiscipline on the part of entire police department and will also set a bad precedence," the police official said on the condition of anonymity. Despite repeated attempts the official against whom allegations have been leveled couldn't be contacted for comments. |
