Jammu, Mar 24: In order to tackle any situation following the out break of deadly COVID 19 epidemic commonly known as Corona Virus, District Administration Kishtwar today take over the control of 13 key buildings viz Schools, hostels and Guest Houses in different areas of the Kishtwar District and converted them into quarantine hospitals as and if need arises in the District.
As per the details available with Early Times, DC Kishtwar vide order No. DM/K/2020/2720-741 Dated 23-3-2020 order for taking over of key buildings viz GHSS Girls Kishtwar, GHSS Boys Kishtwar, B.V.M HSS Kishtwar, Adarsh Balnikatan HS Kishtwar, GDC Kishtwar, Girls Hostel Chatroo, Gujjar and Bakarwal hostel Chatroo, Girls Hostel Sarthal, Himalayan Culture Centre Gumpa Padder, CFC building Padder, NHPC and CVPP buildings Kishtwar, Bursar House NHPC Kishtwar and Bait ul Zayreen near hidyal Chowk kishtwar.
With the over taking of these buildings, Kishtwar administration can put at least one thousand people under quarantine in case any such situation arises.
Speaking to Early Times, senior official in Kishtwar Administration said that as of now Kishtwar District has not reported any case added that over two dozen students who had arrived from Bangladesh and from different parts of the country has been kept in isolation added that more efforts are being put into place to track down some students and labourers who had arrived in Kishtwar District and had gone unscreened. He said that all the officials had been alerted to keep an eye on such persons. He said that the only entry point leading to Kishtwar at Thatri bridge has been fully sealed and people are allowed to enter only after proper verification. He said that though some people hide the travel history, but were later intercepted with active efforts of the teams constituted for the purpose.
The senior officials warn strict action against those who hide the travel history which include registration of an FIR against such persons as well as against their parents if possibly in case they found helping their children’s by knowingly allowing their children’s to go unchecked.
He said that Tehsildar Kishtwar , Chatroo and Padder have been appointed as nodal officers to monitor the facilities at 13 buildings taken over by the administration added that Treasury Officer along with CMO Kishtwar will provide all the logistic support in making established quarantine centers functional .
Meanwhile the public of District Kishtwar today observed the complete shut down besides observed social distancing practices to prevent the spreading corona virus.
DM appreciated the public of Kishtwar for their cooperation and being abeam with adminstration in observing the shutdown and cooperating with the initiatives of administration in combating the spread of fatal COVID-19.
He has appealed to the public of District kishtwar to follow all the SOPs and maintain social distancing so that the chain of infections in district if any could be broken.
He also assured the public of Kishtwar that the administration will ensure the uninterrupted supply of essentials like water, eatables , power, medical services etc. during this shut down and applead to the public to discourage the panic borrowings.
He further asked for postponing the social gatherings and functions and called for staying at their homes for being safe and secure.
