Early Times Report

Banihal, Mar 24: It look like strange and bizarre that the Sub Centre Srunga falling under Medical Block Ukheral in Banihal area of Ramban District is closed even at the time when emergency has been declared all over the world including India as well as in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir due to Corona Virus (COVID 19) epidemic that so far claimed the lives of about 17500 people, beside effecting around 4 lakh persons who had been declared positive world wide.
As per the details available with Early Times, the Sub Centre Srunga has been established with the aim to provide health facilities to the people living in Ramsoo & Neel area of the Banihal Sub Division, since the people living in these areas still lack basic health facilities in the need of hour since the areas falling under this Sub Centre are far flung having no alternative medical facilities available to the people.
The people told Early Times that it unfortunate that centre is closed form the past one month added that they also talked to the concerned BMO, but there was no positive response from him as well.
They said that due to the fear of the Corona Virus spread, the district administration has stopped all educational and business as well as transport and termed it as a good initiative.
They said that people are afraid that if the traffic in these mountainous areas resume, their will be apprehension of spread of the Virus in these area and called for continuous suspension of the transportation in these areas as they feel that due to all this, the Corona Virus epidemic will die on its own.
They said that they are supporting the blanket ban on entry of people in these areas only because in these areas there is nothing known of the health department which could be gauged from the fact that the only medical centre in this area is close since last nearly one month and the authorities are unmoved even though they were aware about the same several time.
People requested the District Administration to provide basic health care facilities to the people so that the people living in these areas did not face any difficulties in the need of hour beside also called for immediate opening of Sub Centre Srunga and action against erring officials posted at this Sub Centre.
