SRINAGAR, Aug 17: Almost three fourths of Corona Virus patients have recovered in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 353 more virus affected patients were discharged from various hospitals of the union territory today. Meanwhile, 422 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Jammu & Kashmir while as six more virus related deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours. The number of positive cases in the union territory is 28,892 and the total casualties being 548.
Bandipora reported 49 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar 48 cases, Kupwara 46 cases, Anantnag and Ganderbal 43 cases each, Pulwama 42 cases, Budgam and Jammu 40 cases each, Kulgam 15 cases, Kathua and Reasi 11 cases each, Samba 10 cases, Baramulla nine cases, Shopian and Doda six cases each, Rajouri two cases and a case in Poonch.
Bandipora district reported two fresh Corona Virus deaths with a death each reported in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam and Anantnag districts. So far 507 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of deaths in Jammu being 41. Srinagar has the highest number of deaths with 174 people dead so far.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 422 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 81 from Jammu division and 341 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 28,892. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 353 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 89 from Jammu Division and 264 from Kashmir Division. Out of 28,892 positive cases, 7,048 are active positive, 21,296 have recovered and 548 have died; 41 in Jammu division and 507 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 01,329 test results available, 7, 72,437 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 4, 15,725 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 41,738 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,048 in isolation and 45,785 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 20,606 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 6,960 positive cases, 1,635 active positive, 5,151 recovered, 174 deaths; Baramulla has 2,438 positive cases, 605 active positive, 1,745 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 2,095 positive cases, 460 active positive, 1,595 recovered, 40 deaths; Budgam has 1,828 positive cases, 511 active positive, 1,276 recovered, 41 deaths; Anantnag has 1,815 positive cases, 353 active positive, 1,423 recovered, 39 deaths.
“Kulgam has 1712 positive cases, 197 active positive, 1,484 recovered, 31 deaths; Shopian has 1,576 positive cases, 103 active positive, 1,448 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 1571 positive cases, 415 active positive, 1,123 recovered, 33 deaths; Bandipora has 1,476 positive cases, 709 active positive, 745 recovered, 22 deaths and Ganderbal has 963 positive cases, 474 active positive, 475 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,005 positive cases, 757 active positive, 1,219 recovered, 29 deaths; Rajouri has 788 positive cases, 121 active positive, 664 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 674 positive cases, 113 active positive, 560 recovered, 01 death; Udhampur has 649 positive cases, 96 active positive, 551 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 624 positive cases, 29 active positive, 594 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 577 positive cases, 163 active positive, 413 recovered, one death; Doda has 343 positive cases, 42 active positive, 299 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 329 positive cases, 85 active positive, 242 recovered, two deaths; Reasi has 288 positive cases, 162 active positive, 126 recovered and Kishtwar has 181 positive cases, 18 active positive, 163 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 28,892 positive cases in J&K, 5,575 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
