KATHUA, June 9: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav today said that District Administration has distributed 16,388 quintal free Ration in the month of May under Government Assistance Scheme; Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna ( PMGKY) benefitting 3.40 lakh souls of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner was giving a media briefing here at the DC Office complex.
He said 5800 registered construction workers of the district have received two installments of Rs 1000 each as Assistance for the month of May and June under government’s endeavor to provide support to the worker class during Covid times.
Rahul Yadav disclosed that 29 beneficiaries have been identified for providing financial assistance and scholarship under SAKSHAM scheme which aims to extend help to the wards of the covid victims. The DC said the positivity rate is on constant decline and the district stands last among all the districts of Jammu & Kashmir with 192 active positive cases. “Out of 192 cases, 28% are in Covid hospitals, 31% are in Covid Care Centers and 41% are in home isolation”, he informed.
“With recovery rate touching 96.23% and positivity rate 1 %, the covid situation in the district has witnessed consistent improvement in the last two weeks,” the DC added.
Rahul Yadav said that 75.59% of people in 45+ age category have been vaccinated and door to door drives are being carried out to increase the daily vaccination rate. He said the health teams are reaching out to the people of remote locations to achieve 100% vaccination in the shortest possible time.
On Rural-Covid Care Centers, the Deputy Commissioner said 67 Rural-CCCs have been equipped with Oxygen Concentrators and the procurement process has been initiated to equip the remaining 190 in coming days.
Requesting the people to keep adhering the Covid appropriate behaviors strictly, the DC said the object of opening of shops and other commercial establishments in a phased manner was to avoid overcrowding in markets. “By being vigilant and responsible can we hope to make fast strides in beating the pandemic for good,” he added.
