Poonch: 2 teachers submitted fake marks card to get a job, alleges complainant | Files representation before LG to investigate matter | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: A complaint has been filed before the Lieutenant Governor office to investigate an alleged scam in the selection of teachers in the district Poonch, way back in the year 2007 and 2009 in which candidates allegedly used fake Class-12th documents to get the job. According to documents along with the copy of complaint filed before the LG’s office, the complainant has alleged that two teachers selected by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) in 2007 and 2009, in Scheduled Caste (SC) category had used scanned copies of the Class-12th marks cards to become eligible for the teacher’s job. As per the eligibility criteria for the post of teachers sought by JKSSB, the candidates must have marks not less than 50 percent in the Class 12th while those having Graduation and above qualification, the bar of 50 percent marks was not applicable. However, as two of the selected candidates did not possess a minimum of 50 percent marks, they manipulated their marks cards by submitting fake marks cards showing above 50 percent marks. One such candidate under question is a teacher selected in the selection list of teachers for district Poonch published in the year 2009. The candidate claims that he had attained 370 marks out of 600 in Class 12th, which accounts for 61.67 % marks while he had neither graduation or post graduation as higher qualification. But as per the original marks card of Class 12th the candidate had qualified Class 12th in Annual 2004 session, securing 274 out of 600 marks, which accounts for merely 45 percent marks, making him ineligible to apply but he got selected as teacher. Moreover another candidate under question is a teacher selected in the list of 2007 was selected in Scheduled Caste (SC) category, who had shown that he had secured 312 out of 600 marks in the Class-12th exams as per selection list which accounted for 52 percent marks, making him eligible to apply and get the job. But as per his original marks-card of Class 12th, the candidate had secured 262 out of 600 marks, which accounted for 43.66 percent, making him ineligible to apply. Surprisingly, the candidate got 17.33 marks out of 20 marks in the viva-voice by the SSB, while even the candidate who had B.Ed and higher qualifications, were given less than 5 marks in viva-voice. “This is merely tip of an iceberg. During political regimes, such manipulation of records was common practice to secure the jobs”, a teacher said, adding that if the Lieutenant Governor administration would initiate an enquiry, several employees, who have secured jobs and promotions by using fake documents, would get exposed. The complainant claimed that he had filed a complaint before the Crime Branch but no action was taken so he has appealed to the LG administration to investigate the alleged scandal in appointments of teachers in district Poonch. “The then SSB authorities as well as the then Chief Education Officer of Poonch and concerned school authorities would have been responsible for ascertaining the authenticity of the documents. It clearly seems that a big nexus was under process during the time while ignoring the deserving candidates”, a Union leader said, adding that it could be easily investigated by the concerned authorities to find genuineness of the complaint as well as the credentials of the candidates, selected. |
