Mysterious burning of service books, official records raises questions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: Many eye-brows raised over mysterious fire in mechanical wing office of the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) in Srinagar earlier this morning. Important official documents and personal records, including service books, of a large number of employees of the department, were brunt into ashes in a mysterious fire- which broke out earlier this morning. Fire broke out at mechanical division of the I&FC office at Gogjibagh in Srinagar at 7 this morning when the office was locked. Taking serious note of the burning of official records, higher-ups of the department have directed the concerned executive engineer to submit a report as early as possible. Highly placed sources said that burning of service books in the fire has raised many eye-brows because such documents were always kept at safe places. “Some documents pertaining to a pending inquiry were also burnt in the fire”, sources said that revealed that a high-level probe is likely to be started in this mysterious fire. Two government vehicles as well as some records including the service books of employees were burnt into ashes in the devastating fire. Government vehicles were parked in the premises of the office which completely gutted in the fire. The burning of service books is a matter of concern for the authorities because the personal records of many employees are gutted. |
