CF appeals PM not to neglect Jammu tourism
6/10/2021 12:07:54 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 9: Citizen's Forum has appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to see that Jammu Tourism is not considered a joke by the J&K Tourism Department. Jammu tourism department have no consideration for promotion of this province, reasons, their inadequate understanding of development of tourism projects for a beautiful province.
Demand for Jammu Tourism started since first Governors rule in J&K and Late Ved Marwah , then advisor to the Governor was invited in a Jammu Tourism Seminar for demands but till today Jammu is struggling to get its tourism share. Recently Rs. 1.92 crore is alloted for Kashmir tourism and petty 1.6 lakh for Jammu tourism and no body from top leaders or Jammu tourism directors raised an eyebrow even.
R K Chadha president of the forum said in a discussion with one of the J&K Secretary Tourism about reasons of neglect of Jammu Tourism. He disclosed that the directors of Jammu tourism do not come forward with local projects to be developed. Nor anybody else from Jammu suggest any project. Hundreds of small tourism projects are lying incomplete, since many years. A little example a small barrage on Jajjhar Kotli river hanging for last 12 years. This small project can enhance the beauty and economy of the area with Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims visit in their way to Katra. The projects of Health and Medical departments are another story. Even after sanction of hundreds of crores and partly disbursed, projects not started, speaks of working and contribution towards the demands of Jammu. This is outcome of incapable blue eyed officer's appointments in the all departments.
