Srinagar, July 3: One-way traffic movement was resumed on Saturday on the national highway, the only road connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir, after remaining suspended on Friday in view of weekly maintenance, a traffic police official said. He said Srinagar-Jammu highway, historic Mughal road and Anantnag-Kishtwar roads are through for traffic. He said one-way traffic on the Srinagar-Leh national highway was allowed today and vehicles will have to ply from Ladakh towards Kashmir. The Kashmir bound vehicles will have to cross Minamarg across the Zojila towards Sonamarg in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal between 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs, he said, adding no vehicle will be allowed before and after cut off timing. He said no vehicle was allowed on Friday from either side on the Srinagar-Leh road to allow Beacon authorities to undertake necessary maintenance at Zojila pass, where vehicles had to pass through huge snow walls on both sides of the road. The highway remained closed from January 1 this year for about five months due to heavy snowfall, avalanches and slippery road condition. |
