Mayor releases list of development works undertaken in June

JAMMU, July 3: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, Narinder Singh, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee, Kuldeep Singh Chairman Social Justice Committee, Yash Pal Sharma, Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee highlighted major activities undertaken by the JMC during the month of June 2021.
Addressing a conference here today Mayor told that various steps have been taken for making Jammu more neat, clean & green city.
He laid foundation stone at Municipal Land near Dogra Chowk Jewel Jammu of charging station for Electric - Rickshaws meant for garbage collections in various wards of the old city.
Visited at Boria water filtration plant near Kalka Colony Bahu Fort with the Chairman health & Sanitation and (Councillor ward no. 70) & Councillors of ward no. 47, 48 & 49 and Chief Engineers as well as other functionaries of Jal Shakti, PDD & JPDCL department to review the water supply position to the citizens of Jammu. Besides this, strict instructions have been issued to all the concerned XEN's of City Divisions & also adjoining areas of Jal Shakti/ PDD Department by conducting continuous meetings with them by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor & Chair Persons of the Standing Committees regarding scarcity of drinking water & plugging of leaked water pipes passing through various parts of the city on urgent basis.
Started the work of prestigious project of laying of dedicated feeders for street lights & high mast lights as well as setting up of a foolproof electric control room and other allied activities for monitoring the installed LED lights as well as their rectification if any on top priority basis to give relief to its citizens and proper functioning of online complaint system regarding street lights.
Work on construction of a Tanga stand alongwith suitable store room has been started at Gole area near River Tawi to give relief to the persons who are doing this traditional business from the last so many years and earning their livelihood by doing this hard work and has been affected due to shifting of previous Tanga Stand in view of widening of Bhagwati Nagar road. Laid foundation stone of Garbage Transfer Station at Bhagwati Nagar and started the construction work of artificial water body near Sewerage Treatment Plant site Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
By doing proper chain fencing/ protection wall with Rs 1.2 cr at Municipal Land at Bandhu Rakh to avoid any type of encroachments/ damage by floods a lot of development and other allied activities have been taken up by way of installing Weigh bridge for properly maintaining the record of all the materials, plastic & other things collected here for further segregation under UNDP. Construction of deluxe toilets/ bathrooms for the Chowkidars & workers engaged under UNDP project under Swacch Bharat Mission, planting nos of saplings for keeping the area green & eco friendly.
