GCET organizes Inter-college poster making competition

Jammu, Jul 3: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu today organized an Inter-college poster making competition to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence and to celebrate “International Plastic Bag Free Day”. The theme of the event was Don’t be Drastic; Say No to Plastic.
The event was held under the supervision and able guidance of college Principal Dr. Sameru Sharma. In her message she said that Plastic Bag Free Day is a global initiative that aims to eliminate the use of single-use plastic bags in the world.
It is about promoting environmental conservation by encouraging us all to stay away from the use of plastic bags and opt for eco-friendly alternatives. Large number of participants from different colleges of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh participated in the event and presented their ideas regarding the theme through poster.
The event was organized by NSS volunteers Mandeep Singh, Sakshi Bhat, Mohd. Sami, Paras Gupta and coordinated by Dr. Raman Gupta, Sr. Assistant Professor in Chemistry (NSS Programme Officer) GCET, Jammu. He pledged with all NSS volunteers to join hands together in this global initiative to raise awareness on the impact of plastics bags and encourage the use of other eco-friendly bags. He said that by taking global imitative and safer alternatives we can create a world which can sustain without the use of plastic. All the participants will be awarded with e-certificates for the event.
