Vacuum created by his death is hard to be filled: Mehbooba Mufti | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 24: People's Democratic Party (PDP) mourned the unfortunate demise of its senior leader, former legislator and a veteran politician from Poonch Yashpal Sharma. In her condolence message, Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP President, while mourning the demise expressed shock and grief and conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family. She prayed to Almighty for peace to the departed soul and patience and courage to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of grief. Mehbooba Mufti termed the death of Yashpal Sharma as a big loss to the party in particular and the society at large in general. While highlighting the qualities and contributions of the deceased leader she said that it is very difficult to fill the vacuum created by the death of veteran leader. It is pertinent to mention that 76 year old Yashpal Sharma died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest last night. He was popularly known among his followers as 'Sher-e-Poonch (lion of Poonch), He was considered a veteran voice in the PDP. He was one of the most prominent leaders of Poonch who led the 1978 historical Poonch agitation to protest against Govt's step motherly treatment meted out to people of Poonch especially the youth in terms of employment to educated youth of the region who had been rendered jobless. After that massive agitation the Government had to provide jobs to the educated youth of Poonch. |
