Smart traffic lights turn defunct in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: Most of the smart traffic lights in Jammu City have turned defunct. When these lights were installed the administrators had claimed that it would improve the traffic system across Jammu and violators will be penalized through e-challans. According to the officials Rs 15 crore were spent on installing the smart city lights. “After these lights were installed the feature of capturing violators through imagery was disabled in the very beginning. Along with the passage of time these lights have stopped working as these have not been maintained,” said a source. It appears that the administration is not interested in maintaining these lights. The money which was spent on installing these lights has gone down the drain. It’s in place to mention here that the CAG report had pulled up the authorities for not properly assessing site, traffic, and requirement of junctions before installation of traffic lighting system in Jammu city. |
