104-135 militants waiting to infiltrate: BSF | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 24: A senior Border Security Force (BSF) officer in Kashmir on Monday said that 104-135 militants were waiting across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into India. BSF Inspector General (Kashmir Frontier) Raja Babu Singh said there was peace along the LoC in Kashmir after the ceasefire agreement of February last year. "(But) a number of infiltration bids were made and the terrorists who crossed to this side got killed," Singh told a press conference at Humhama on Srinagar's outskirts. Singh said the number of infiltration bids has been fewer compared to previous years. "In 2021, 58 attempts were there in which five terrorists were killed, 21 returned and one surrendered," he said. "There are reports that 104 to 135 terrorists are present across the LoC on different launch pads waiting to infiltrate," Singh said. He said some guides have gone from Kashmir and crossed the LoC. "We need to monitor them as and when they return. Their families need to be monitored." He said there was a lot of synergy between the Army and BSF to ensure zero infiltration. "The more we conduct area domination, keep watch and surveillance, the more difficult it will be for them to infiltrate. We are putting in all out efforts so that no infiltration is allowed," he added. But the officer said the drone threat was very real. "Last year also drones were noticed but none ventured inside our territory. This year, we are taking enough measures... We are also getting a few number of drones and we will tackle it very effectively." Singh said last year 138 to 145 youths were indoctrinated to join different militant organizations in the Kashmir Valley. |
