GCET Jammu celebrates National Girl Child Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 24: The NSS unit of Govt College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) Jammu today organized series of virtual events in order to commemorate "National Girl Child Day" under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mohotsav. These events were held under the patronage of Principal Dr. Sameru Sharma. In her message, she said that India celebrates National Girl Child Day every year on 24th January. The objective of celebrating this day is to change the perspective and attitude of society towards the girls and the upliftment of the girl child. The position of girls has improved a lot over the years, but there is still a lot to improve. The event was started with the theme "An Online Selfie with Parents/ Daughter" in which female staff members and female students of the college participated. The other event was online slogan writing competition on the theme "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" in which number of students from different colleges participated. The whole event was organized by Sr. NSS volunteers Sakshi Bhat, Mandeep Singh, Paras Gupta and Jaanvi Sharma under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta. He said that the importance of this day increases, even more, when we see a change in society. With the help of this day, we can change the attitude and perspective of people. It is important because it educates people and makes them aware about the girl child. The Principal of the College applauded and congratulated the team NSS for organizing such kind of event. |
