GDC Sidhra observes National Girl Child Day

JAMMU, Jan 24: NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra under the aegis of IQAC and banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrated National Girl Child Day 2022, with an aim to spread awareness about the gender based discrimination that girls face in the society.
NSS unit organized series of Intra-College activities including Poster making competition on the theme "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" and second activity was "Share Your Views" on the topic, "Importance of Girl Education". "A selfie with your daughter" was also one of the activities in which girl students had to click a selfie with their parents and faculty members have to click a selfie with their daughters.
The participants were judged by Prof. Harpreet Kour, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and Pankaj Singh, Librarian of the college.
In poster making competition first position was secured by Deepak Nischal and Gourav Pandey of B. Com Sem V, while Waqar Ahmed and Irshad Akhter of B.A Sem III were adjudged at second position and third position was shared by Moksh Bharadwaj of B.Com Sem I and Nahida Bibi of B.A Sem I.
In video clips shared by the students on the topic Importance of Girl Education, first position was secured by Shafeeq ul Rehman of B.A Sem V, while Irshad Akhter of B.A Sem III was adjudged at second position and third position was secured by Karsoom Akhter of B.A Sem III. Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma congratulated the meritorious students as well as the student participants for their participation in the event with full enthusiasm. The event was organized by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, PO NSS Unit and Prof. Deepa Kak, Coordinator NSS Unit GDC Sidhra. The event was successful with the coordination of Pankaj Singh, Librarian, GDC Sidhra.
